Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Plates five runs across twin bill

Baldwin went a combined 4-for-9 with two runs and five RBI across both games of a doubleheader sweep of Miami on Saturday. Baldwin started at DH in the matinee before moving behind the plate for the nightcap. He was productive in both contests, driving in two runs in Game 1 and three more in Game 2. The first-year backstop has a pair of five-RBI performances across his past three games to go along with his six-RBI effort July 21 against San Francisco. He continues to be a strong contender for NL Rookie of the Year honors with a .289/.357/.477 slash line, 13 homers, 31 runs and 51 RBI over 86 games.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Impresses with two-homer night

Baldwin went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Thursday's win over the Marlins. Baldwin opened the scoring with a solo blast off Eury Perez, Baldwin's first long ball since July 9, before adding a three-run shot in the sixth for his first multi-homer game in the majors. The rookie backstop is heating up in August, batting 8-for-21 (.381) with three multi-hit performances. As Atlanta furthers from playoff contention, Baldwin could see more at-bats versus left-handed pitching down the stretch.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Notches career-best six RBI

Baldwin went 3-for-4 with two doubles, six RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 9-5 win over San Francisco. The rookie backstop gave his team a 3-1 lead when he plated three runs on double in the first. Baldwin then returned in the fourth to knock home two more on a single before wrapping his career night by driving home one on a double in the sixth. Thanks to a solid .290/.358/.488 slash line with 11 homers, eight doubles, 39 RBI and 25 runs scored in 229 total plate appearances, Baldwin is emerging as a favorite for the NL Rookie of the Year Award.

On the season, he's slashing .274/.348/.476 with 10 homers and 28 RBI, and Atlanta seems content to deploy a timeshare behind the plate with Baldwin and Sean Murphy, with each catcher starting five of the last 10 games.

The rookie has cooled off a bit in June, going just 9-for-41 over 14 games, though he's still managed three home runs and nine RBI during that span.
