  • Blue Jays' Seranthony Dominguez: Hammered in loss

Dominguez (2-4) allowed five runs (three earned) on two hits and a walk in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Royals. He did not record an out. Dominguez entered a 2-2 contest in the 10th inning and was immediately greeted with an RBI double by Kyle Isbel on the first pitch of the frame. Dominguez then hit Jonathan India, walked Bobby Witt on four pitches and had his outing come to an end after Tyler Tolbert's two-run single. It was Dominguez's fourth appearance as a Blue Jay after throwing 3.1 scoreless frames in his first three outings. His season ERA jumped up to 3.60 with a 58:25 K:BB through 45 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Seranthony Dominguez: Notches first hold for new club

Dominguez struck out two in a perfect eighth inning to record a hold in Wednesday's win over the Orioles. Facing the team that traded him away between the games of Tuesday's doubleheader, Dominguez got some immediate revenge by fanning Tyler O'Neill and Jordan Westburg to protect a 9-8 lead. The veteran righty has a 1.21 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB through 22.1 innings since the beginning of June, and he'll be one of the top setup options for Toronto's stretch run in front of closer Jeff Hoffman.

  • Blue Jays' Seranthony Dominguez: Traded to Blue Jays

The Blue Jays acquired Dominguez from the Orioles in exchange for Juaron Watts-Brown between games of Tuesday's doubleheader in Baltimore, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. It ordinarily takes a couple days for a new player to join their new team, but Dominguez will be able to simply swap clubhouses in the middle of Tuesday's twin bill. The right-hander was expected to be in the mix for saves in Baltimore with Felix Bautista (shoulder) on the IL, but he should fill a setup role for Toronto. Dominguez has a 3.24 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Candidate for saves

Dominguez is a candidate for save chances while Felix Bautista (shoulder) is out, although interim manager Tony Mansolino indicated Thursday that he doesn't think he'll have a set closer, Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com reports. Dominguez notched 10 saves for the Orioles last season after being acquired at the trade deadline and has added two more saves this season. The 30-year-old has posted a 3.40 ERA with 51 strikeouts over 39.2 frames in 2025, but walks (24) have been an issue. Andrew Kittredge, Gregory Soto and Yennier Cano could also be in the mix for saves while Bautista is sidelined, but Dominguez is the guy to target on the waiver wire.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Notches save in return

Dominguez (back) picked up his second save of the season in Sunday's 2-1 win over Atlanta, striking out two while allowing one earned run on two hits over one inning. Dominguez wasn't available for either of the Orioles' previous two games due to a sore back, but interim manager Tony Mansolino was comfortable turning to the right-hander to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning Sunday with normal closer Felix Bautista being rested following appearances on both of the past two days. The save didn't come easily for Dominguez, who gave up a one-out solo home run to Sean Murphy before Ozzie Albies singled to put the tying run on base. However, Dominguez settled in thereafter, striking out Drake Baldwin and then inducing a weak grounder from Michael Harris to close out the contest. The 30-year-old Dominguez has posted a 3.31 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 47:20 K:BB across 35.1 innings this season while working primarily in a setup role.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Nursing sore back

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said Dominguez hasn't been available out of the bullpen for the Orioles' last two games due to a sore back, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Per Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com, Mansolino said Dominguez reported the injury after he "slept funny," but the skipper is hoping the reliever will be available Sunday. Dominguez has been a key bridge to closer Felix Bautista this season, collecting 13 holds, one save and two wins while pitching to a 3.15 ERA over 34.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Getting back on track

Dominguez gave up one walk in a scoreless seventh inning during Saturday's 6-5 win over the Angels. He struck out one. Dominguez posted his eighth straight scoreless outing, fanning at least two for the sixth time during this stretch. The 30-year-old right-hander had a 6.00 ERA as of May 24, but he's managed to improve that figure to a more palatable 4.05 for the campaign after Saturday's showing. Dominguez now has seven holds in 2025, and he owns a 1.28 WHIP and 34:16 K:BB over 26.2 innings as a setup man for closer Felix Bautista.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Finishes off Wednesday's victory

Dominguez threw a clean 11th inning in Wednesday's 8-4 extra-innings victory over the Brewers. He struck out one. Dominguez sealed the victory in extra innings for the Orioles, but it's been a struggle for him overall since opening the year with a scoreless streak of 8.1 innings. Over his last 7.2 frames, the right-hander has a 9.39 ERA and 9:6 K:BB. With Andrew Kittredge having made his season debut Wednesday, Dominguez now has more competition for high-leverage work in the Orioles' bullpen.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Strong start in setup role

Dominguez picked up a hold Sunday against Toronto after throwing 1.1 clean innings. He struck out one. Dominguez came on to protect a 4-3 lead with two runners on base in the sixth inning, striking out Bo Bichette on a foul tip to end the frame before retiring the side in the seventh frame. Dominguez has yielded just one hit over seven shutout innings to begin the season, but the right-hander doesn't carry much fantasy value outside of leagues that record holds while closer Felix Bautista is healthy for the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Might see some save chances

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that Dominguez could see save opportunities early on in the season on days Felix Bautista (elbow) is unavailable, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Bautista won't pitch back-to-back days or throw more than one inning at a time initially in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. That opens the door to save chances for others, with Gregory Soto and Andrew Kittredge (knee) being named along with Dominguez by Hyde in what will be a "mix and match" situation. Dominguez served as the Orioles' primary closer down the stretch last season, going 10-for-11 in regular-season save chances after being acquired at the trade deadline.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Collects 11th save

Dominguez picked up the save in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the Yankees, pitching a clean two-thirds of an inning with no strikeouts. The Baltimore closer collected his first save since Sept. 10 to send the Orioles back to the postseason. After Gregory Soto faced two left-handed batters -- Jazz Chisholm and Anthony Rizzo -- to open the ninth, Dominguez relieved him to tidily retire the next two batters on just seven pitches. Since joining Baltimore on July 26, Dominguez has collected 10 saves while pitching to a 3.43 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB across 21 innings.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Stuck with blown save

Dominguez was charged with a blown save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Giants, allowing a run on one hit and two walks in one-third of an inning. Protecting a one-run lead in the ninth, Dominguez walked the first two batters he faced before Casey Schmitt tied the game with a base hit. It's the first blown save in 10 chances for Dominguez since he joined the Orioles in July. The right-hander has allowed three runs in his last two appearances (1.1 innings) after allowing just one run in his previous 7.1 frames. Despite his recent struggles, Dominguez figures to remain in the closing role down the stretch. His ERA sits at 4.37 on the year with a 1.20 WHIP and 66:18 K:BB across 55.2 innings between Baltimore and Philadelphia.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Secures 10th save

Dominguez earned the save in Tuesday's 5-3 victory against Boston, pitching a scoreless inning with two strikeouts while allowing one hit. The Baltimore closer required only 14 pitches to retire the side in the ninth to collect his ninth save with the team since arriving via trade July 26. Dominguez has a been a steady source of strikeouts for a reliever, as he's now posted three consecutive multi-K appearances. The 29-year-old flamethrower has now pitched to a 2.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 17.1 innings with the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Picks up save Tuesday

Dominguez earned the save in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning. Dominguez worked hard to get three outs, needing 32 pitches to complete the inning, but he ultimately got the job done to pick up his sixth save this month and seventh of the year. He's now posted three straight scoreless outings since allowing a run in three straight appearances. The 29-year-old righty owns a 4.14 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 57:16 K:BB in 50 innings and remains the team's top choice for closing duties.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Secures sixth save

Dominguez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Astros. Dominguez has been busy lately, securing three saves and losing two contests across five appearances over the past seven days. He locked up his fifth consecutive save chance for the Orioles on just eight pitches and owns a 2.77 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB across 13 innings since joining them July 26.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Gets walked off Monday

Dominguez (3-3) allowed one run on one hit and struck out one in one-third of an inning to take the loss versus the Mets on Monday. Dominguez was called on to keep the game tied at 3-3 in the ninth inning, but he allowed a one-out solo home run to Francisco Alvarez. This was the second outing in a row in which Dominguez has given up a run after previously posting a five-inning scoreless streak. For the season, he's now at a 4.24 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 54:15 K:BB over 46.2 innings while adding four saves and five holds. Dominguez has emerged as manager Brandon Hyde's top closing option this month, but his grip on that role is tenuous even with Craig Kimbrel struggling. Yennier Cano and Cionel Perez are also options to see late-inning work.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Collects fourth save

Dominguez earned his fourth save of the season Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing one earned run on one hit and zero walks in 1.1 innings. He struck out three. Dominguez allowed a solo home run to Rob Refsnyder in the ninth but was otherwise excellent, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the eighth and striking out three batters in the ninth inning. With incumbent closer Craig Kimbrel allowing earned runs in back-to-back appearances, manager Brandon Hyde appears to have turned over the closer role to the newly acquired Dominguez. The 29-year-old Dominguez has been superb since coming over from Philadelphia on July 26, converting all three of his save chances while logging a robust 1.74 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 10.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Nabs first save with new team

Dominguez walked one and struck out one over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rays. Dominguez has steadied himself since he was traded from the Phillies to the Orioles on July 26. Over eight innings with Baltimore, he has allowed just one run with a 9:2 K:BB, and now he has a save. It's especially noteworthy he got the save chance Saturday, as regular closer Craig Kimbrel hadn't pitched over the last three days. Kimbrel has allowed nine runs (seven earned) over his last 7.2 innings, but he's on a three-inning scoreless streak. Manager Brandon Hyde told reporters after the game that he's trying to keep the pressure off Kimbrel during his recent slump while also giving the veteran a vote of confidence, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports, but this usage suggests Dominguez has established himself as a high-leverage option with his new team. For the year, Dominguez has a 4.09 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 49:14 K:BB while adding two saves and five holds over 44 innings.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Notches first save of season

Dominguez struck out two in a perfect 11th inning Friday to record his first save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Orioles. Jose Alvarado, Jeff Hoffman and Orion Kerkering had all pitched earlier in the night, but the Phillies' deep bullpen still had someone with closing experience available once they took the lead in the top of the 11th. Dominguez has been tagged with a run in only one of 14 appearances since the beginning of May, posting a 0.68 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB in 13.1 innings over that stretch, but he could still be shut out of consistent high-leverage work given the effectiveness of the other arms ahead of him in the pecking order.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Focusing on consistency

Dominguez is focusing on his mindset this spring in an effort to stop overthinking as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season, Alex Coffey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Dominguez's ERA rose from 3.00 in 2022 to 3.78 in 2023, with his 4.90 xFIP suggesting that things could easily have been a good deal worse. Of particular concern is Dominguez's strikeout rate, which dropped from 29.5 percent to 21.4 percent. Per Coffey's report, the righty isn't overhauling his delivery or pitch mix this winter, instead focusing on, "trying to manage his delivery less now, rather than thinking about it when he's halfway down the mound." Whether or not that helps Dominguez get back to peak form, something which is needed if he's to carve out save chances in a deep Phillies bullpen, remains to be seen.
