Pirates reliever Radhames Liz has been designated for assignment so veteran pitcher Vance Worley can be added to the roster, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Liz has just three appearances since his promotion on Sept. 1 and has allowed four runs on six hits in six innings.
Worley was demoted to Triple-A Indianapolis in mid-August after compiling a 4-5 mark and 3.78 ERA as both a starter and reliever. But he boasts a fine 2.38 ERA in the minors, which has motivated his promotion.
