Nationals relief pitcher Sean Burnett will undergo surgery to remove a bone spur (or spurs) from his pitching elbow next week, according to the Washington Post's Adam Kilgore.
Burnett dealt with soreness in his left elbow over the second half of the season.
Kilgore also writes that Burnett seems likely to decline a $3.5-million mutual option and explore free agency this offseason.
Burnett was 1-2 with a 2.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 57 strikeouts and two saves in 56 2/3 innings this season.
