Report: Dodgers showing interest in Kyle Lohse
The Dodgers, deep with starters and already connected to Zack Greinke and Anibal Sanchez, are reportedly interested in Kyle Lohse.
The Dodgers have interest in free-agent starter Kyle Lohse, Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reported Wednesday.
According to CBSSPorts.com insider Danny Knobler, the Dodgers' top free-agent starter targets are Zack Greinke and Anibal Sanchez. The Dodgers already possess six MLB starters -- Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Josh Beckett, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Ted Lilly -- so Lohse would likely represent a backup plan if the Dodgers fail to acquire Greinke or Sanchez.
Lohse, 34, posted a career year in 2012, with a 2.86 ERA (134 ERA+), 16-3 record and a 3.76 K/BB, all career bests. He declined the Cardinals' qualifying offer this offseason. Therefore, any rival team will have to forfeit a first-round pick to sign him. For his career, Lohse owns a 4.45 ERA (97 ERA+) with a 2.19 K/BB.
