The Angels want bullpen help at the deadline but have no interest in newly released lefty reliever Brian Fuentes, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reported.
The Angels have a collective bullpen ERA of 3.16, tied for ninth in the league, but depth is an issue -- after Scott Downs, Ernesto Frieri, and LaTroy Hawkins, every Angels reliever has either an ERA or a FIP above 3.75.
Fuentes would not be a solution there. He has a brutal 6.85 ERA and a similarly discouraging 5.54 FIP. He has allowed five home runs in 26 appearances, earning his release from the Athletics on Wednesday.
