Texas doesn't love the starting pitching market, so it's checking out relievers.

The Rangers, not finding the starting-pitching market to their liking, are looking at Royals closer Jonathan Broxton.
Broxton would make a very nice set-up man. Joe Nathan has done a terrific job closing in Texas.
The Rangers aren't in on Josh Johnson and there's a gaining belief the Rays may hold Shields, so Texas is turning its atteention to the pen. If it acquires a reliever, it can move Alexi Ogando to the rotation.
Broxton has had a nice bounce-back year with the Royals, going 1-2 with 23 saves and a 2.27 ERA.
