McLouth will start in left field for the Orioles on Saturday night. He'll bat seventh in the lineup.

McLouth played 34 games for the Pirates this season before being designated for assignment by Pittsburgh. He hit a disappointing .140/.210/.175 with no home runs and two RBI.

In 47 games with Triple-A Norfolk, McLouth hit .244/.325/.461 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI.

McLouth had an out-clause in the minor-league contract he signed with the Orioles and was ready to opt-out at midnight on Friday.

McLouth had a strong July with Norfolk, posting a .925 OPS. He hit eight home runs, scored 21 runs, and had 22 RBI.

Chavez was batting .190/.222/.281 in 47 games with the Orioles, and will now go on waivers.
