The Mariners couldn't escape the first game of the season without losing a starter to the disabled list, as left fielder Mike Carp suffered a sprained shoulder in Wednesday's opener and was placed on the 15-day disabled list before Thursday's game, replacing him with Carlos Peguero on the roster.
