  • Zach Benson LW | BUF

    Sabres' Zach Benson: Considered day-to-day

Benson didn't participate in Monday's practice session and is considered day-to-day due to an undisclosed injury, Joe Yerdon of Bleacher Report reports.

Head coach Lindy Ruff said that Benson's absence from practice was deemed a maintenance day, but the Sabres will see how he feels over the next few days before determining his status for Wednesday's game against Ottawa. The 21-year-old got banged up in the third period of Saturday's win over the Kings. Benson is expected to skate Tuesday morning and could join the team for practice, and a better idea of his availability for Wednesday could come into focus based on his participation level Tuesday.

  • Avalanche's Keaton Middleton: Called up Monday

Middleton was recalled from AHL Colorado on Monday.

Middleton was sent down by the Avalanche ahead of the regular season, but he'll rejoin the NHL club to provide additional depth ahead of Colorado's back-to-back set that includes a game against Chicago on Monday and a matchup against Columbus on Tuesday. Across his first 11 appearances with the AHL club this year, Middleton has recorded an assist, seven PIM and a plus-2 rating.

Girgensons (lower body) won't play against Detroit on Tuesday, per Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley.

Malkin is considered day-to-day due to a lower-body injury and won't participate in Monday's practice session.

Malkin has logged two multi-point performances across his last three appearances, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be available Tuesday against Vegas due to his lower-body issue.
