Van Riemsdyk (lower body) will not be with the team when it leaves for a four-game road trip, Josh Getzoff of SportsNet Pittsburgh reports Monday.
While van Riemsdyk won't be with the club when it heads to Chicago for Tuesday's matchup, head coach Dan Muse didn't rule out the possibility that the defenseman could join up eventually. Without the 35-year-old blueliner in the lineup, Spencer Stastney should continue to pair up with Kris Letang.
