McGroarty was called up from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
McGroarty's promotion to the NHL roster comes as both Bryan Rust (lower body) and Ben Kindel (undisclosed) were placed on injured reserve in corresponding moves. Whether McGroarty gets into the lineup versus Florida on Thursday will likely come down to a decision by the coaching staff between him and Elmer Soderblom.
