Blankenburg (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Maple Leafs on Friday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Blankenburg exited Thursday's matchup against the Rangers due to an undisclosed injury, and while the exact nature and severity haven't yet been revealed, he'll be forced to miss at least a week. Marshall Rifai (lower body) was also placed on injured reserve Friday, so Dakota Mermis and Cole McWard were called up to provide additional depth on the Maple Leafs' blue line.
