Backlund (upper body) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Wild, Pat Steinberg of QR Calgary 770 AM reports.
Backlund suffered an upper-body injury during Sunday's win over the Hurricanes and said afterward that he "won't be out long if at all." However, he'll be sidelined for at least one matchup due to the injury. Brennan Othmann will likely remain in the lineup Thursday against Minnesota, while Backlund's next opportunity to return will be Saturday against the Red Wings.
