Thompson (lower body) was put on injured reserve Saturday, per the NHL media site.
Thompson's placement on IR is presumably retroactive to Tuesday, which is when he last played. He has a 4-3-0 record, 2.90 GAA and .901 save percentage in seven appearances this campaign. Washington is likely to lean on Charlie Lindgren during Thompson's absence. Mitchell Gibson was summoned from AHL Hershey on Friday to serve as the No. 2 netminder.
