The Steelers released Wright on Monday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Wright has logged previous stints with Pittsburgh, as well as a number of other NFL teams, but he was never a true candidate to beat out Chris Boswell for a spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster. He could be a candidate to resurface on Pittsburgh's practice squad if he doesn't find a role elsewhere.
