The Commanders waived Gay on Monday.
Gay will head to waivers since the trade deadline has passed, but he's had a dreadful season in Washington after signing a one-year deal with the team over the offseason. Gay has converted just 13 of 19 field-goal attempts and all 22 extra-point tries. He missed a pair of field goals in the Commanders' 16-13 overtime loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
