Odighizuwa faces increased competition for snaps at defensive tackle in 2024.
The 2021 third-round pick has emerged as a reliable 3-technique at defensive tackle for the Cowboys, and Odighizuwa recorded a career-high 46 tackles over 17 regular-season games last season with 3.0 sacks. Last year's first-round pick Mazi Smith is expected to take a step forward in his development though, and Dallas added veteran Jordan Phillips to the DT mix during training camp, with free agent Linval Joseph also expected to sign in the coming days. That gives new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer plenty of options in the middle of the defensive line, but it also makes it unlikely that Odighizuwa will see the career-high 601 snaps he got in 2023.
