The Seahawks waived Akers on Thursday, John Boyle of the team's site reports.

Akers signed with Seattle in late November and was expected to serve as a depth piece behind Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet while George Holani (hamstring) is on injured reserve. However, the 26-year-old was inactive in Weeks 13 and 14 due to a coach's decision. The sixth-year pro has 19 yards on five carries this season, which came during his five-game stint with the Vikings.
