The Jets waived Smith on Tuesday, Susanna Welr of the team's official site reports.
Smith was signed to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game at Cincinnati when Josh Reynolds (hip) was placed on injured reserve, but he's now been let go less than a week later, as the Jets head into their bye week.
