The Browns could promote Zappe to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game in Pittsburgh, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Cleveland released its updated unofficial depth chart for Week 6 on Tuesday, with Dillon Gabriel as the starting quarterback and Shedeur Sanders being listed as the backup after the Browns shipped Joe Flacco to the Bengals on Tuesday. However, Sanders may not necessarily serve as the No. 2 quarterback come Sunday. Instead, the Browns may view Zappe -- who has made nine career NFL starts -- as being more game-ready than the rookie Sanders, who could remain inactive on game days as the team's emergency No. 3 quarterback.
