The 49ers reverted Gay to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
With Eddy Pineiro missing the past two weeks due to a hamstring injury, Gay has stepped in and gone 4-for-4 on field goals as well as 4-for-4 on PATs. San Francisco is on bye Week 14, and Pineiro is trending toward returning when the team returns to action Week 15, so Gay's tenure as the club's kicker may have come to an end.
