Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Catches fire from deep

Payton Pritchard registered 28 points (10-16 FG, 7-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, four assists and two steals across 22 minutes during Monday's 134-99 victory over the Bulls.Pritchard caught fire from beyond the arc, connecting on seven three-pointers while leading Boston in scoring despite coming off the bench. The veteran guard was particularly effective during the third quarter, helping the Boston Celtics pull away in a lopsided victory. Pritchard's explosive shooting ability gives him considerable fantasy upside, though his production could fluctuate depending on his playing time.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Notches 17 points off bench

Payton Pritchard finished with 17 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), four rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 121-113 loss to Detroit.Pritchard matched Derrick White for Boston's second-highest scoring total despite the former coming off the bench. The guard generated much of his offense at the charity stripe, converting seven of eight attempts while committing zero turnovers. His 28-minute workload suggests he'll remain a significant part of the Boston Celtics' backcourt rotation, although his limited playmaking in the opener was less encouraging for fantasy managers.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Set to play Tuesday

Payton Pritchard (rest) is expected to play in Tuesday's game versus Detroit.Pritchard didn't play in Friday's 125-120 preseason overtime win over Philadelphia but is on track to be on the floor when the Boston Celtics begin the 2026-27 campaign versus the Pistons. The 2020 No. 26 overall pick is coming off his best season in 2025-26, averaging 17.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists across 32.4 minutes per contest in 79 regular-season games, including 50 starts. With Jaylen Brown now in Philadelphia, there is room for Pritchard to take over as the No. 3 offensive option behind Paul George and Jayson Tatum, giving him more than enough upside for fantasy managers.

Payton Pritchard (rest) won't play in Friday's preseason finale against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.Pritchard and the rest of Boston's regulars won't be available for the final exhibition but should be good to go for the regular-season opener against the Pistons on Tuesday. Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Double-digit dimes off bench Wednesday

Payton Pritchard provided seven points (3-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt), 11 assists and three rebounds over 29 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's preseason win over Charlotte. The 28-year-old guard had trouble getting his own shot to fall, but he led the Boston Celtics in assists on the night while tying Jayson Tatum for the team lead in minutes. Pritchard posted better numbers last season than he did in 2024-25 when he won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award, averaging a career-best 17.0 points, 5.2 assists and 3.9 boards, along with 2.7 threes in 32.4 minutes over 79 regular-season games, and he should be the engine of the second unit once again in 2026-27.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Leads Boston in scoring Saturday

Payton Pritchard posted 25 points (7-12 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 6-6 FT), seven assists and four rebounds over 24 minutes during Saturday's 144-106 preseason win over the 76ers.Pritchard helped the Boston Celtics race out to a commanding lead in the second quarter with 11 points, nine of which came on three triples. The seventh-year point guard has been the Celtics' offensive spark plug the last few seasons, and he operated in a starting role for most of last year in the absence of Jayson Tatum. Pritchard is expected to revert to a rotational role now that Tatum is back, but with Jaylen Brown now in Philadelphia and Paul George in Boston, Pritchard could be the Celtics' second offensive option on most nights.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Eyeing bump in production

Payton Pritchard said Monday that he's focused on making incremental improvements across the board rather than dramatically changing his game heading into the 2026-27 season, Bobby Krivitsky of Forbes.com reports. The veteran guard mentioned becoming more efficient while also improving his production as a scorer, facilitator, rebounder and defender. Pritchard is coming off a career year in which he averaged 17.0 points, 5.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds across 79 regular-season appearances, and he should be an even important piece of Boston's backcourt this season with Jaylen Brown out of the picture.
