Gillespie did not take part in Wednesday's full morning shootaround and isn't expected to play against San Antonio, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
The guard's anticipated absence further thins Phoenix's backcourt, with Devin Booker and Jalen Green also expected to sit. Gillespie's next opportunity to play will be Friday's preseason finale against Utah, assuming he's available.
