Donaldson is in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the Timberwolves, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The Heat are resting their projected starters for the regular-season opener against the Timberwolves on Oct. 21, meaning Donaldson is one of the non-regulars who will get the chance to start. He's competing for a backup role in the backcourt as the regular season approaches.
