  • Steven Cruz RP | KC

Royals' Steven Cruz: Pitching well in rehab assignment

Cruz (shoulder) struck out two and gave up a hit and no walks over 1.1 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.

Cruz has yet to allow a run in four rehab outings with Triple-A Omaha as he works back from right shoulder tendinitis. Before the injury, he posted a 3.61 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 42.1 innings in 43 appearances out of Kansas City's bullpen. A return to the majors should come soon, giving the club a fresh relief option after a taxing series against Seattle.

  • Victor Robles RF | SEA

Mariners' Victor Robles: Falling behind Canzone vs. RHP

Robles is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Kansas City.

Four of Robles' last five starts have come against left-handed pitching, as Dominic Canzone appears to have leapfrogged past Robles in right field versus right-handers. It will be Canzone in right field and batting seventh Thursday against righty Stephen Kolek.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Swipes two bags Wednesday

Dominguez went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases in a 10-5 victory versus Minnesota on Wednesday.

Dominguez hasn't had many opportunities of late -- Wednesday marked just his second start over New York's past 10 games. He made the most of the opportunity, stroking an RBI double in the fourth inning, then stealing third base before coming around to score. Dominguez reached again on a hit-by-pitch in the eighth, swiped second and scored on a Ryan McMahon single. Dominguez has a solid 23 steals on 27 attempts this season, but his .724 OPS has been mildly disappointing.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Sitting Thursday

Langeliers is not in Thursday's lineup against the Red Sox.

This will be Langeliers' first day off since Sept. 7. He's hitting .280 with one home run, nine runs, three RBI and two steals in 50 September at-bats.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Out with back issue

Caminero (back tightness) is not in Thursday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

He exited Wednesday's game with back tightness and is still ailing Thursday. Tristan Gray is starting at third base and batting sixth.

  • Steven Kwan LF | CLE

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Swipes bag No. 20

Kwan went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Tigers.

The Guardians' leadoff hitter extended his on-base streak to 12 games while stealing his 20th base of the season, leaving him one shy of the career high he set in 2023. Over those 12 contests, Kwan is slashing .304/.407/.348 with six steals, five RBI, seven runs and an 8:3 BB:K.

  • Rob Refsnyder RF | BOS

Red Sox's Rob Refsnyder: Not in lineup Thursday

Refsnyder is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Athletics.

After starting each of the last two games against right-handed pitching (and four straight overall), the right-handed-hitting Refsnyder will retreat to the bench for Thursday's series finale against Athletics righty J.T. Ginn. Nate Eaton will play right field and bat eighth for Boston.

  • Gavin Williams SP | CLE

Guardians' Gavin Williams: Fans nine in 11th win

Williams (11-5) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers. He struck out nine.

The right-hander watched Detroit hitters foul off a whopping 28 pitches to force his early exit, but Williams was otherwise dominant to kick off the combined shutout, racking up 30 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches. He's given up three runs or fewer in six straight trips to the mound as the Guardians make a late push for a wild-card spot, posting a 1.87 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB through 33.2 innings over that stretch and going 4-1. Williams lines up to make his next start at home early next week in a rematch with the Tigers.

  • Romy Gonzalez 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Exiting starting nine

Gonzalez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt against the Athletics.

The right-handed-hitting Gonzalez has seen more and more reps versus righties lately -- in addition to his regular starts against lefties -- but he'll take a seat for this one as the Athletics send righty J.T. Ginn to the bump. David Hamilton is at second base and batting seventh for the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Sitting out for day game

Narvaez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Athletics.

It's a routine day off for Narvaez, who started each of the last five contests (four at catcher, one at designated hitter). Connor Wong will do the catching during Thursday's matinee.
