  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Sharp in return

Senga took a no-decision after throwing four innings, allowing no runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four, during Friday's 8-3 win over the Royals.

Senga made his first big-league start since June 12, and since he made only one rehab start, he threw only four innings and 67 pitches. Regardless, the 32-year-old looked sharp in his return, notching his seventh shutout appearance in 14 starts this season, and he has still yet to allow more than three runs in a game. The right-hander has been one of the best pitchers in the game when he's been healthy, sporting a 1.39 ERA in 77.2 innings pitched.

  • German Marquez SP | COL

Rockies' German Marquez: Sharp over six frames in no-decision

Marquez settled for a no-decision after working six innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out eight, during Friday's 3-2 win over the Reds.

Marquez rebounded from one of his worst starts of the season his last time out with one of his best. The 30-year-old struck out a season-high eight batters, bringing him up to 71 on the season in just over 95 innings pitched. The right-hander did surrender a home run, the fourth straight start in which he's done so, but that was the lone damage on the day. He'll enter the All-Star break on a high note and will look to continue to chip away at his ERA, now at 5.47, in the second half.

  • Chase Burns SP | CIN

Reds' Chase Burns: Fans 10 in no-decision

Burns settled for a no-decision after working six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out 10, during Friday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.

It's been a roller-coaster ride for Burns in the first four starts of his big-league career, but this was the sharpest he's looked so far. The rookie right-hander fanned 10, the first time he's eclipsed the double-digit mark. He did allow another home run, already the third one he's allowed, but the potential for the 22-year-old as a future ace was on full display. Burns enters the All-Star break with 25 strikeouts in just 16 innings as he looks to hold down his rotation spot in the second half.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | MIA

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Leaves with elbow injury

Cabrera was removed from Friday's game against the Orioles with posterior elbow discomfort, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Cabrera's elbow injury limited him to just four innings Friday, during which he gave up four earned runs on eight hits while striking out six batters. He will presumably undergo tests to determine the nature/severity of his injury, at which point the Marlins may relay an update on his status.

  • Ryan Bergert SP | KC

Padres' Ryan Bergert: Activated ahead of start

Bergert (forearm) was reinstated from the injured list ahead of his start Friday against the Phillies.

A forearm bruise caused by a comebacker forced Bergert onto the IL toward the end of June, but he'll now return after close to a minimum-length stay. The 25-year-old rookie has performed well in the big leagues this season to the tune of a 2.67 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, but he'll be welcomed back from injury by a Phillies offense that owns an .809 OPS since the start of July. Eduarniel Nunez was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

  • Tobias Myers RP | MIL

Brewers' Tobias Myers: Back in big leagues

The Brewers recalled Myers from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Milwaukee has already confirmed their rotation plans for this weekend's series versus the Nationals, so Myers is likely to work out of the bullpen. After missing almost the first month of the campaign due to an oblique injury, the right-hander has been at Triple-A since mid-May after posting a 4.95 ERA, 1.80 ERA and 15:10 K:BB over 20 innings (six outings) in the majors.

  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Reinstated for Friday's start

The Mets activated Senga (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game in Kansas City.

The right-hander has been sidelined nearly a month due to a right hamstring strain, but he's ready to rejoin New York's rotation after giving up three earned runs over 3.2 frames in his lone rehab outing. Senga threw 68 pitches in that appearance, so he's likely to face some light workload limitations in his first start back with the Mets. He'd been dominant in 2025 prior to the injury with a 1.47 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 70:31 K:BB across 73.2 innings.

  • Nick Nastrini SP | LAD

Dodgers' Nick Nastrini: Claimed by Dodgers

The Dodgers claimed Nastrini off waivers Friday.

Nastrini joins his third organization in just two weeks, going from the White Sox to Miami to the Dodgers. The 25-year-old hasn't appeared in an MLB game this season, and he's struggled in Triple-A, owning a 7.58 ERA and 49:43 K:BB across 46.1 innings. The Dodgers' staff has been ravaged by injuries, so Nastrini could be needed to eat some innings as a long reliever, but he's likely to spend most of his time in the minors. Noah Davis was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Quinn Priester SP | MIL

Brewers' Quinn Priester: Set to follow opener

Priester is expected to pitch behind opener DL Hall in Friday's game against the Nationals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander has worked as a traditional starter in 12 of his 16 appearances this season, but he'll piggyback Hall in his final appearance before the All-Star break. Priester has been a quality back-end rotation piece for the Brewers during the first half with a 3.59 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 65:30 K:BB across 82.2 innings, but he could lose his spot when Nestor Cortes (elbow) is ready to return.

  • Brewers' Nestor Cortes: Sharp in second rehab start

Cortes (elbow) struck out two and allowed three hits and no walks over four scoreless innings in his rehab start Thursday with High-A Wisconsin.

The southpaw has pitched effectively over two rehab starts with Wisconsin and Triple-A Nashville, tossing seven scoreless frames with a 6:0 K:BB. He built up to 54 pitches (36 strikes) in Thursday's outing, and Cortes may need just one more outing to get stretched out before making his return from the 60-day injured list shortly after the All-Star break. Though the Brewers are flush with appealing rotation options, Cortes' strong track record over the last four seasons should be enough for him to reclaim a starting role. After being acquired in the Devin Williams trade this winter, Cortes made just two appearances for the Brewers before being placed on the IL on April 6 due to a left elbow flexor strain.
