The Twins designated Kent for assignment Tuesday.
Kent has made just two appearances for the Twins in the majors this season and eight for Triple-A St. Paul, where he logged a 3.38 ERA. The right-hander is getting the boot from the 40-man roster to make room for reliever Luis Garcia, who was promoted to the big club from St. Paul.
