Castro signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Dec. 12.

Castro spent his second season in the majors in 2022 but found little success, turning in a 10.22 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 12.1 innings over 10 appearances between the Giants and Cubs. Though his deal with the Tigers may include an invitation to MLB spring training, the 23-year-old right-hander is expected to open the upcoming season at Triple-A Toledo.
