The Royals selected Devanney's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old will receive his first taste of the majors as Mark Canha (elbow) heads to the injured list. Devanney isn't likely to see regular playing time while up with Kansas City and should fill a utility role.
