The Rockies placed Freeman on the 10-day injured list Monday due to lumbar pain, retroactive to Sunday.
It's the second time this season that Freeman will spend time on the IL due to a back issue. The earliest he can return is Aug. 19, but he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury and attempt to establish a clearer recovery timeline. Connor Norby was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.
