Gonzalez entered Friday's game as a pinch runner and remained in the 4-2 extra-innings loss to the Twins. He was hitless in his lone plate appearance.
Gonzalez initially played second base but eventually moved to third in the 11th inning, when Rafael Devers (shoulder) was removed from the game. Devers will undergo an MRI on Saturday and faces of the prospect of his season being over. That would create an opening at third base, where Gonzalez and Nick Sogard would likely fill in.
