The Phillies reassigned Machin to minor-league camp Thursday.
Machin logged 253 plate appearances at the big-league level with an 102-loss Oakland squad in 2022, but he'll have a tougher time earning reps in the majors with a Phillies team that fancies itself as World Series contenders. After inking a minor-league deal with Philadelphia in January, the 29-year-old is likely viewed as little more than organizational infield depth at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
