Byrd is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
With Lonnie Chisenhall returning, at-bats are going to be increasingly difficult to come by for the 38-year-old Byrd. Even more so, he's just 1-for-14 over his past six games, dropping his average down to .241 on the season. A professional hitter, Byrd is still a useful piece as a pinch hitter.
