Winn was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Mariners due to right knee pain, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Winn's knee has given him problems throughout the season, most recently preventing him from playing Aug. 24 against the Rays. He'll get another day off Tuesday to manage his injury, and his sudden absence will move Thomas Saggese to shortstop while Jose Fermin enters as the Cardinals' second baseman.
