Brewers' Cooper Pratt: Extension official, joins 40-man roster
The Brewers announced Friday that Pratt signed an eight-year contract extension with club options for 2034 and 2035, and the team subsequently selected his contract to the major-league roster and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
The $50 million extension was reported early in the week, but it apparently took a few days for the two sides to hammer out all the details. Regardless, the 21-year-old Pratt has now been officially added to the 40-man roster and could be with Milwaukee for the next decade. He's received his first taste of the Triple-A level this year after posting a .242/.344/.354 slash line with eight homers and 30 steals at Double-A in 2025. Pratt will likely need to show some improvement with his bat before the Brewers give him a look in the majors, but his glove at shortstop is likely already big-league ready.
