WSU vs. ORST updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Washington State vs. Oregon State football game
Game Recap
The Washington State Cougars were successful in their previous meeting against the Oregon State Beavers, and they didn't afford Oregon State any payback this time around. Washington State dodged a bullet on Saturday, finishing off Oregon State 54-53. Yes, you read that final score correctly. And yes, they were playing football.
QB Anthony Gordon had a stellar game for the Cougars as he passed for 606 yards and six TDs on 70 attempts. WR Dezmon Patmon also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
Oregon State might have lost, but man -- RB Jermar Jefferson was a total machine. He rushed for 132 yards and two TDs on 21 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Jefferson's 54-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter.
The game leaves both teams with the exact same record at 5-5.
Washington State will take on the Washington Huskies at 4 p.m. ET next week at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. The Cougars might not be the betting favorite, but it's doubtful the players in their locker room care too much about that. The Beavers are on the road again next week and play against the Oregon Ducks at 11:11 a.m. ET at Autzen Stadium. The defensive coordinators surely put in extra hours ahead of this matchup since these teams' offenses combined for 1,103 yards this week.
