Western Kentucky vs. Liberty updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Western Kentucky vs. Liberty football game
Game Recap
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 30-24 to the Liberty Flames. This was hardly the result the Hilltoppers or its fans were betting on, as they were favored by 14.5 points over Liberty heading into this game.
QB Malik Willis had a dynamite game for Liberty; he accumulated 133 passing yards in addition to rushing for three TDs and 168 yards. Willis' longest run was for 51 yards in the third quarter. RB Joshua Mack and his 100 yards on the ground were another key factor in the Flames' victory.
The losing side was boosted by QB Tyrrell Pigrome, who passed for three TDs and 193 yards on 25 attempts in addition to picking up 62 yards on the ground.
This is the second loss in a row for WKU and nudges their record down to 0-2. The win improved Liberty's record to 1-0.
WKU can take some time to mend their wounds since their next matchup isn't for a while. They will face the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders at Johnny (Red) Floyd Stadium at 5 p.m. ET in two weeks. Like the Hilltoppers, Middle Tenn. is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 47-14 to the Troy Trojans. The Flames will be playing in front of their home fans against the FIU Panthers at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Williams Stadium.
