Western Kentucky vs. Indiana Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Western Kentucky vs. Indiana football game
Game Recap
The Indiana Hoosiers won the last time they met up with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. IU had just enough and edged out WKU 33-31.
The Hoosiers' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 23 points in the first half. The Hilltoppers weren't quite able to keep up, and the score was 23-14 heading into the break. IU almost let the contest get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it.
IU can attribute much of their success to RB Stephen Carr, who rushed for two TDs and 109 yards on 25 carries. K Charles Campbell added his talents, too, launching four field goals between the uprights.
Special teams collected 15 points for IU. Campbell booted in four field goals, the longest a 48-yarder in the third quarter, which ultimately accounted for the difference in the matchup.
Western Kentucky's defeat came about despite a quality game from QB Bailey Zappe, who passed for three TDs and 365 yards on 44 attempts.
The win got the Hoosiers back to even at 2-2. The loss dropped the Hilltoppers' record to 1-2.
IU will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Beaver Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday. The defensive coordinators will surely put in extra hours ahead of this game since these teams' offenses combined for 1,008 yards this week. As for WKU, they will go up against the Michigan State Spartans at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Spartan Stadium.
