West Virginia vs. Pittsburgh: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the West Virginia vs. Pittsburgh football game
The West Virginia Mountaineers will be playing at home against the Pittsburgh Panthers at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. Unlike West Virginia, Pittsburgh will be limping in after taking a loss.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for West Virginia on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Duquesne out of the water with a 56-17 final score. The success represented a nice turnaround for West Virginia who in their last game suffered a tough 38-15 loss.
WR Hudson Clement and QB Garrett Greene were among the main playmakers for West Virginia as the former found the endzone three times on 177 receiving yards and the latter threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns on 18 attempts. Clement's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. RB Jahiem White was another key contributor, rushing for 110 yards and punching in a rushing TD.
Meanwhile, the point spread favored Pittsburgh on Saturday, but luck did not. They took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cincinnati.
Nobody from Pittsburgh had a standout game, but they still got scores from QB Phil Jurkovec, WR Konata Mumpfield, and TE Gavin Bartholomew. It was a true group effort though, as the team also got help from Mumpfield, who found the endzone twice on 53 receiving yards.
Even though they lost, the Panthers played a clean game and finished the game with 35 penalty yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cincinnati lost 90.
West Virginia will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with an even 6-6 record against the spread.
West Virginia came up short against Pittsburgh in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, falling 38-31. Will West Virginia have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the contest or check back on CBS Sports to find out.
