Live scores, highlights and updates from the Washington vs. Texas football game
Bowl season is underway, and the Texas Longhorns and the Washington Huskies will compete for postseason bragging rights in the Alamo Bowl at Alamodome at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Texas had a touchdown and change to spare in a 38-27 win over the Baylor Bears four weeks ago. The Longhorns' RB Bijan Robinson did his thing and rushed for two TDs and 179 yards on 29 carries.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 272 more yards than your opponent like Washington did four weeks ago, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They strolled past the Washington State Cougars with points to spare, taking the contest 51-33. The victory came about even with the Huskies handicapping themselves with 84 penalty yards. QB Michael Penix Jr. had a dynamite game for Washington; he passed for three TDs and 485 yards on 43 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 34 yards and catching one pass for one TD and 30 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Penix Jr.'s 75-yard TD bomb to WR Jalen McMillan in the third quarter. Penix Jr.'s sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
Texas is the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (7-3), so they might be worth a quick bet.
A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Texas comes into the game boasting the 25th most rushing touchdowns in the nation at 28. The Huskies have displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they enter the matchup with 521.7 yards per game on average, good for second best in the nation.
