The Washington State Cougars will be playing at home against the Wisconsin Badgers at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Clarence D. Martin Stadium. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It took one tries, but Washington State can finally say they have a win on the road. They enjoyed a cozy 50-24 victory over Colorado State on Saturday. Washington State pushed the score to 29-3 by the end of the third, a deficit Colorado State had littlechance of recovering from.
QB Cameron Ward had a dynamite game for Washington State, throwing for 451 yards and three touchdowns on 49 attempts. Ward wound up with a passer rating of 173. WR Lincoln Victor was another key contributor, posting 168 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Wisconsin over Buffalo in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Wisconsin took down Buffalo 38-17. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Wisconsin had established an 18 point advantage.
Wisconsin relied on the efforts of RB Chez Mellusi, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, and RB Braelon Allen, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Securing the other side of the line was LB Jordan Turner, who stumped the offense to the tune of seven tackles.
Washington State will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with an 8-5 record against the spread.
Washington State won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup last September, slipping by Wisconsin 17-14. Will Washington State repeat their success, or do Wisconsin have a better game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
