After losing to the Portland State Vikings the last time they met, the Washington State Cougars decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cougars took down Portland State 44-24 on Saturday. This was a must-win game for Washington State as they bounced back from a huge upset against the Utah State Aggies last week.
Washington State QB Jayden de Laura was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 284 yards on 26 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. WR Travell Harris was in the mix, too, providing Washington State with two touchdowns.
QB Davis Alexander put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for two TDs and 280 yards on 48 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 62 yards.
The win got Washington State back to even at 1-1. Portland State's defeat pushed them down to 0-2.
The Cougars will square off against the USC Trojans at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Clarence D. Martin Stadium. Like Washington State, USC is also coming into the matchup bolstered by a recent victory. As for Portland State, they will go up against the Western Oregon Wolves at 5:05 p.m. ET next Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.
