Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia vs. Notre Dame football game
Game Recap
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish won the last time they met up with the Virginia Cavaliers, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. The Fighting Irish took their contest against Virginia on Saturday by a conclusive 28-3 score.
Notre Dame's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 21 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Virginia couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21 to nothing heading into the break. The Notre Dame defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the matchup.
No one had a standout game offensively for Notre Dame, but they got scores from a handful of players including QB Jack Coan, TE Michael Mayer, and RB Kyren Williams.
The win bumped Notre Dame's record up to 9-1. The Cavaliers' overall record fell to 6-4.
The Fighting Irish will square off against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 2:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. Unlike Notre Dame, Georgia Tech will be limping in after taking a loss. As for Virginia, they will go up against the Pittsburgh Panthers at noon ET next Saturday at Heinz Field. Pitt is 5-2 after wins this year, and Virginia is 1-2 after losses.
