Virginia vs. NC State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia vs. NC State football game
Game Recap
The Virginia Cavaliers had a rough go of it in September of 2018 when they matched up with the NC State Wolfpack and had to endure more of the same two weeks ago. Virginia took a 38-21 bruising from NC State. The Cavaliers didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the 7-point advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
RB Zonovan Knight hadn't helped the Wolfpack's cause all that much against the Pittsburgh Panthers three weeks ago, but the same can't be said for this contest. NC State can attribute much of their success to Knight, who rushed for two TDs and 101 yards on 18 carries. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Knight has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. Knight's sharp performance also set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. NC State's DT Alim McNeill got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the fourth quarter into a touchdown.
NC State's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
A silver lining for Virginia was the play of QB Lindell Stone, who passed for three TDs and 240 yards on 54 attempts.
This is the second loss in a row for the Cavaliers and nudges their record down to 1-2. The win makes it two in a row for the Wolfpack and bumps their record up to 3-1.
Virginia will take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 4 p.m. ET last week at Truist Field. As for NC State, they will go up against the Duke Blue Devils at 3:30 p.m. ET last week at Carter-Finley Stadium. Duke is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 38-24 victory over the Syracuse Orange two weeks ago.
