Virginia vs. Duke updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

1st Quarter Report

Fortunes may be turning around for Virginia after losing three in a row. They have jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead against Duke.

Virginia came into the matchup with some extra motivation after the defeat they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.

Preview

Virginia is 7-1 against Duke since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Virginia Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Duke Blue Devils at 3:00 p.m. ET at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium. Virginia is limping into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Virginia came up short against Louisville and fell 31-24.

Virginia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Anthony Colandrea, who threw for 314 yards and a touchdown, and Malik Washington who picked up 155 receiving yards and a touchdown. Washington has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more receiving yards the last five times he's played. Kam Robinson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, Duke pushed their score all the way to 45 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of North Carolina by a score of 47-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Duke in their matchups with North Carolina: they've now lost five in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Grayson Loftis, who threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Waters, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

Virginia's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Duke, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Not only did the pair lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Looking ahead, Duke is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by four points. Virginia has not treated fans well this season (a 2-8 ensrues that), but at least they enjoy a 7-3 record against the spread.

Virginia might still be hurting after the devastating 38-17 loss they got from Duke in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Virginia have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to find expert analysis of the match and other college football content.
