Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest football game
The Virginia Tech Hokies will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 3:30 p.m. ET at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Virginia Tech traveled a rocky road last season, and unfortunately for them the road hasn't gotten any smoother. They suffered a bruising 39-17 loss at the hands of Florida State on Saturday. Virginia Tech was surely aware of their disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest might have drawn first blood against Clemson on Saturday, but it was Clemson who got the last laugh. Wake Forest took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clemson. Wake Forest has struggled against Clemson recently, as Saturday's matchup was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Virginia Tech's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's lackluster offensive performance: across that stretch, they only averaged 16.67 points per game. On the other hand, Wake Forest's loss on Saturday dropped their record down to 3-2.
Looking ahead, Virginia Tech is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by two points.
