Game Recap
Two weeks ago, the Vanderbilt Commodores were out to avenge their 24-7 defeat to the South Carolina Gamecocks from their previous meeting last November, but they had no such luck. The Commodores suffered a grim 41-7 defeat to USC. That's two games in a row now that Vanderbilt have lost by 34 points.
USC's RB Kevin Harris was on fire, rushing for two TDs and 171 yards on 21 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Harris' 88-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter. QB Collin Hill had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
No one had a standout game offensively for Vanderbilt, but WR Cam Johnson led the way with one touchdown.
Vanderbilt still hasn't won a game and fell to 0-3. The win improved the Gamecocks' record to 1-2.
The Commodores will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against the Ole Miss Rebels at 4 p.m. ET next week at Vanderbilt Stadium. Neither Vanderbilt nor Ole Miss could muster much offensive firepower in their last games, so look to the defense to decide this one. As for USC, they will go up against the Auburn Tigers at noon ET last week at Williams-Brice Stadium. Auburn is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 30-28 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks two weeks ago.
