Live scores, highlights and updates from the Virginia vs. Liberty football game
Game Recap
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Virginia Cavaliers' strategy against the Liberty Flames on Saturday. Virginia was the clear victor by a 55-27 margin over Liberty. That's another feather in the cap for Virginia, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Virginia started the contest off right with 24 first-half points. Liberty countered with 14 points, leaving the score at 24-14 going into the half. The offense for the Cavaliers continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 31 points to put the game away.
QB Bryce Perkins and RB PK Kier were among the main playmakers for the Cavaliers as the former passed for 199 yards and two TDs on 30 attempts and the latter rushed for 82 yards and one TD on ten carries.
The victory improved the Cavaliers' record to 7-3. The Flames' loss pushes them down to 6-4.
The Cavaliers have the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the Virginia Tech Hokies at noon ET next week at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium. As for the Flames, they will face off against the New Mexico State Aggies at 2 p.m. ET at Williams Stadium.
