UTSA vs. South Florida Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Friday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the UTSA vs. South Florida football game
The UTSA Roadrunners will be playing at home against the South Florida Bulls at 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday at Alamodome. UTSA will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
UTSA put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Rice with a sharp 34-14 victory.
UTSA's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Rocko Griffin, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Frank Harris, who threw for 175 yards and a touchdown. Chris Carpenter also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Rice to a paltry 229 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to UTSA's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. Rice's QB won't forget Trey Moore anytime soon given Moore sacked him twice. Another big playmaker for UTSA was Carpenter, who managed to return a punt 50-yards to the end zone in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, South Florida beat Temple 27-23 on Saturday.
Sean Atkins was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 169 receiving yards.
UTSA pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.33 points. As for South Florida, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Looking forward, UTSA is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 16 points. This contest will be their seventh straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 4-1-1 against the spread).
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Roadrunners have been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Bulls struggle in that department as they've been even better at 190.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
